Our first dip in the crystal clear water is in Beang, where Whales and dolphins can be spotted, especially between May and August, during their migration. This site is also great for muck diving. A short trek onshore leads to the ending of “Tuti Agadai”, a tiny river with small natural hot springs. Later, unwind and admire the sun setting from our top deck with a refreshing cocktail.
Welcome to the dugong site, the place where you can see and swim with dugongs – these funny creatures that can be compared to sea cows. An encounter not to be missed! In the afternoon, visit the local tribes of these intriguing remote islands where the main source of income is fishing and a little farming. Women of the village will show you how they make traditional sarongs using ancestral batik techniques. Wander around the museum and discover cultural artifacts from Alor’s 17 districts, especially drums which have to be part of every decent dowry from all Alor husband-to-be. Head back to the yacht for a movie night under the stars.
We wake up on Lapan island, a verdant slope tiny island surrounded by a heavenly beach and lagoon. The plateau is ideal for snorkeling and watersports, which could even lead you to a magnificent blue hole, that extends to a nice dive site with its deep wall, with a visibility of 15 meters, where to observe blue spotted rays, turtles, and lots of macros.
Finally, at the close of the day, sail out to Pulau Komba for sunset and marvel at the volcano Batu Tara, erupting every 15 minutes. Watch your own private firework - show courtesy of Mother Nature.
Ile Ape is one of the most spectacular bays in indonesia and villages line the thin line around the base of the perfectly cone shaped volcano. Excellent fishing and opportunities to hike in the area. This area is also well-known for textiles and an impromptu visit to any small village will produce an amazing display of hand woven textiles. Water sports and water skiing are also perfect in the calm waters of the bay.
We wake up to Pulau Babi, - literally meaning Pig Island for the first men where known to raise pigs. Explore underwater walls, ledges at the “Crack”, called so as it was created during the earthquake in 1992, where a reef broke in half by a big earthquake.
Many animals such as eagle rays, hammerhead sharks, and spider crabs can be found there. Snorkelling and Watersports are also rewarding there, as we find differ- ent species of anemone fish, puffer fish, urchins and various coral species.
